Gwen Stefani hit the scene in West Hollywood, on April 13, 2012 for the  world premiere of "My Valentine" hosted by Paul and Stella McCartney. Stefani rocked a black Fall 2011 Stella McCartney peplum jumper with sheer sleeves. Once again Stefani proves she is a fashion superstar and one hot mama. I’ve loved Stefani since before she was Trapped In A Box; in my eyes she can do no wrong.

Hooray for Harajuku Style! The ultimate marriage between ‘girly’ and ‘over the top’, Harajuku Fashionistas are fearless style stars. The ‘harajuku’ style reigns from the far east, Japan, to be exact, derived from the popular Harajuku district where gals can be seen daily in their over the top dainty duds giggling and traveling in packs of 3 to 5. I was first introduced to the Harajuku style when I lived in Japan as a teenager, oh so many years ago, then reminded of the style when Gwen Stefani brought the trend stateside with her posse of Harajuku Girls. I celebrate this style because I can’t help but gravitate to things that are over the top, just as much as I can’t help but to gravitate to girly, dainty, darling clothing. Lace, pastels, knee highs, pearls, rhinestones, femme accessories, colorful hair, and sparkles….potentially all on the same outfit, thus a Harajuku princess. These delightful divas travel in packs of fabulous, whether stateside or in Japan, they deserve fearless fashionista kudos. Here’s to you lovely Harajuku ladies, fashionista job well done!

Since I can remember, I have been obsessed and in awe of the style of the 1950’s. As a teenager I admired the classic taste of 5o’s style duds, thinking they offered true class. Tailored tweeds, synched skirts, formfitting silks, complimenting curves, all without giving away all the goods. The frocks of that era offered just the right amount of wrong. Sexy meant accentuating the positives, not letting it all hang out every where, ass dimples and all. The figure of a woman was more something to celebrate than to have jiggling everywhere. I am still so confused as to why jiggling ass and titties are hot…in my eyes, all that should be held tightly where it should be, accentuated with proper hosiery, spanks, and accessories…but maybe that’s just me.

It seems as if the fashion of yesterday posed women as flirty felines rather than pussy’s in heat.

This spring season I simply can not ignore Prada’s new line. It’s to die for. Simply marvelous. Prada’s Spring Line of 2012 is influenced by the 1950’s in all the best ways. Classic tailored suites with just the right amount of femme… sassy Cadillac bottom heels…and spicy hot rod influenced skirts and handbags. Love. Love. Love. Thank you Prada. Thank you for this 2012 Spring Collection from Heaven, making ladies look like true ladies.

What inspired you to create The 16th Bar?

I’m a tomboy at heart, but after years of shopping for my 4’11’’ frame, I gave up on looking for clothes I could fit into. It wasn’t fair that only two stores sold petite sizes. They only have half a wall for the “petite” section, and I hate their typical “look”, so I was stuck with jeans and t-shirts everyday in college. Even as I continued studying in school, everything I designed needed to be a standard size, so while most students were able to wear their own designs themselves, my garments continued to collect dust in my closet because everything was too big. That’s when I decided I needed to make a change in the industry. I knew I couldn’t be the only one dealing with these frustrations. We shouldn’t be limited to beautiful clothing simply because we are not “standard height”. I decided to create a petite couture inspired collection, so our clothing could finally match our bold personalities.

What does style mean to you?

Style is so much more important than fashion. Fashion is following trends, but when you have style, you’re setting the trends yourself; you know who you are. Style is, for lack of a better word, a lifestyle. It’s your personal branding of who you are to the outside world. From the shoes you wear, the way you carry yourself and speak to others, to the car you drive, it’s who you are, and no one can change that.

What kind of woman wears your line?

It’s the woman who appreciates quality over quantity. She knows who she is, she’s bold, and she’s a risk taker. She knows you only live once, and she’s not afraid to take on any adventure.

Fashionably speaking, who do you look up to?

I look up to musicians and artists more than anything. But as far as designers go, then I would say Coco Chanel and Tom Ford would top the list. Coco Chanel changed the world, because she had a different way of thinking, she didn’t just follow what everyone else was doing. And Tom Ford is just daring. He loves causing mayhem and controversy and I respect him for that.

What is your favorite accessory that you own?

Well, if perfume counts as an accessory, then hands down it’s my bottle of Chanel Chance. I wear it everyday, even if I’m just working at home. You feel beautiful when you know you smell really good. And confidence is the sexiest accessory anyone needs.
